GROOVE ME: PLEASE DON’T AX ADDISON GROOVE

Written by Martin Caballero   |  Published by Dig Boston

In preparation for our second show with Addison Groove and Girl Unit, Martin Caballero wanted to get an inside look at the mind of Tony Williams, aka Addison Groove, aka Headhunter. In Addison Groove’s short but playful manner, he describes his inspiration for his album Presents James Grieve, working with DJ Rashad, and his last adventure while in Boston. “We sent some questions via e-mail to UK-based DJ/producer Addison Groove, he of footwork/juke/DnB/“Footcrab” fame, in anticipation of his upcoming show at Good Life Boston. This is what we got back.”

“Martin: What was the concept behind Presents James Grieve?”

“Addison: An apple grew on a tree in my garden; it was a James Grieve. Not much went into coming up with that name. The apple went on to become part of a pie I made late in October 2013.”

“Martin: Have you played Boston before? What was your last experience in the city like?”

“Addison: Yep, was good except for the part where the Red Sox lost and someone tried to ax me.”
